Hi there. I'm CJ, and I'm an amateur writer. I've just recently joined Newgrounds officially, but I've heard of and used this place for a while before actually setting up an account.
My interests include sci-fi/fantasy fiction and poetry. I think that poetry and speculative fiction (or SF for short) are great means by which to examine our world from different perspectives, and this is why I like to write in these genres. I also like escaping from the dullness of our everyday world. I love watching a lot of older anime, and I suppose that is where I get a lot of this escapist sentiment.
Regarding my views on things, I tend to wax political sometimes; rest assured, however, that I am no extremist of any kind, left or right. I'm a centrist, and I lean slightly to the left. But I do acknowledge that there is a time and a place for appropriate political discussion, and that lots of people are here to have fun, play games, view art, and watch amateur artists make stuff of real value.
And that's what I love the most about Newgrounds, and indeed the whole internet. Craftsmanship. It's something that, I think, has been largely lost on the mainstream in the mad rush of studios attempting to beat each other out at the box office. Craftsmanship and talent escaped to the internet, and without the internet, they might not even be around anymore. I thank my lucky stars for the internet, because it's here that people can truly be themselves and bring forth that inner spirit, that pneuma that every artist has within them.
Finally, I'll close this post with a quote from a favorite anime of mine, Outlaw Star:
"A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him."
Yours,
